The story behind Marsh Mellow Farms
We're a small family farm in Charlevoix, Michigan with the vision of becoming sustainable, organic, and community driven.
Activity on the farm: Building up to production.
COMING SOON: Roadside stand, farm fresh eggs, garden veggies, and non-GMO/organic seedlings.
"Mellow" is our goal, as are happy hens, chemical-free beds, and food you can trust. Come say hi at the stand this summer!
We're documenting our journey toward USDA organic certification. Every step is intentional, from soil testing to seed selection.
Our hens live on pasture with plenty of room to roam, scratch, and be chickens. We believe happy animals make better food.
Feeding our neighbors honest, local food is what drives us. The roadside stand is our way of saying "welcome."
Acquired our land in Charlevoix, built coops, and welcomed our first flock of laying hens. Began soil testing and planning the garden layout.
Planted 20 young orchard trees, expanded the garden to 1,800 sq ft, and started using compost from our hens. Set up our seedling greenhouse.
Launched this website, started taking pre-orders, and began building our roadside stand. Documenting our organic transition for USDA certification.
Our roadside stand opens this summer with eggs, produce, seedlings, baked goods, and more. This is just the beginning!
Know your farmer, know your food. We want you to see exactly where your food comes from, that's why we have a live chicken cam!
Start small, grow right. We'd rather do things the right way than the fast way. Quality over quantity, always.
Transparency matters. From our seeds to our soil to our chickens' feed, we share everything openly.
Food is community. The roadside stand is more than a shop; it's a gathering place for neighbors.
